Cycling

We can provide a secure locked environment if you bring your own cycle. Visit the council cycling page to find routes in the area which are suitable for you – depending on length, difficulty etc.

Or ride over to Ratlinghope (pronounced Ratchup)to visit the grave of the last Sin Eater restored in 2010. Or, for serious riders, keep on riding on the circular loop brushing Shrewsbury and use up 1100 calories in the process.

For downhill riders there is the international cycling course at Eastridge Woods and over on the Long Mynd there are multiple well waymarked tracks which can be linked together, and maps can be obtained from local cycle stores if required. There are good cycle shops nearby in Church Stretton, Marshbrook, and Bishops Castle. Check out this video of the beautiful rides off-road.  Find out why it is a good idea to stay for a few days to explore the Long Mynd with this article

There are lots of great ideas for cyclists at http://www.shropshiresgreatoutdoors.co.uk/cycling/ with an interactive map which shows off trails in any area and covers road, Mountain, BMX and family activities.

If you are interested in cycling but don’t bring your own then mountain bikes  can be hired from  The MTB Centre at the Station Hotel Marshbrook (where there are shower facilities for after!).  In Bishops Castle New Street Cycles hire out pedal cycles by the day or half day for exploring the local roads.
