Eating and Drinking

Eating

There are a range of local hostelries. Our favourite is Stiperstones Inn at Stiperstones which serves old fashioned honest food in a friendly environment with good local ales. All our guests comment upon the lovely friendly atmosphere and great value for money.

The Stables Inn at Hopesgate does freshly prepared food from a short menu (they don’t take credit or debit cards), and Abel’s Harp at Bromlow Callow has a more upmarket menu and has just come under new management.

And our special occasions pub for Michelin Mentioned food is at The Pound Inn, Leebottwood.  It has the quality of a Michelin star without any of the pretension and with proper person-sized portions at affordable prices.  For fancy Michelin tasting menus try The Chequers, Montgomery or head to Ludlow where the Green Cafe at  Mill on the Green has a Michelin Bib Gourmand and several other restaurants are knocking on the Michelin Star door.

Pubs

The Miner’s Arms is a local pub, useful if you have climbed the hill to Stapeley. The Bridges Pub is the brewery tap for the 3 Tuns brewery in Bishops Castle – or try one of the range of local breweries: 3 Tuns and 6 Bells in Bishops Castle, White Horse Inn in Clun, Plough at Whitmanstow home to Woods Brewery, and the eponymous Ludlow Brewery.  While our locals are Stiperstones Inn at Stiperstones,  Stables Inn at Hopesgate (under new management), and Crown Inn at Wentnor.
